Dear TC,
Today is June 26, 2026. This “new” tired is NOT my friend. I’ve been tired in the past, but this…it’s different. Nobody ever told me that grief could make you tired in a whole new way. You were born without anesthesia – none. I came home and cooked a meal for your Dad and Charlie. THIS tired has seeped into my bones and into my very being. I could sleep for a week and still be tired. I go to bed at night – tired. I get up in the morning – tired. When will it stop?
The mortuary called today. The Death Certificates are ready to be picked up. I’ve never seen a real Death Certificate. I’m not sure I’m ready to see your name on such a document. We take great comfort in knowing your name is written in The Lamb’s Book of Life.
I started writing Thank You notes today. I will probably overlook someone. If you’re reading this and you didn’t get a card….THANK YOU. I either forgot to send it or the post office flat dropped the ball. In fact, I actually had to hand-deliver one going to a Gray Court address….they just couldn’t (or wouldn’t) do their job.
The bank statement was left hanging and did NOT get balanced. I did good to get the bills paid for June. My OCD brain rebelled at not tackling that bank statement. For those of you who don’t know, my bank statement is balanced every month and is filed in a chronological manner in a three-ring binder. So; my brain wasn’t happy but this tired put its foot down. Too tired. Too bad. July will be here soon enough.
Dad bought some solar lights for the yard. He placed one at the place where we laid you to rest. Will I ever be able to use the “g” word. (It rhymes with brave.)
Looks like I will be calling on the Probate Office next week. I’m glad you had the foresight to give away all your assets ahead of time. I pray Probate is a cake-walk. To be honest, I can use a little cake right now; heavy on the buttercream. (grin)

Dear TC,
Today is June 30, 2026. I stopped by the mortuary today. I picked up five copies of your Death Certificate. It felt strange and rather surreal; like it should have been someone else’s name on that document. But I did it without tears. You would have been proud.
A visit to the Probate Office was as I expected: there is nothing to put through Probate. You did good to give away everything. I did shed some tears and the lady was very patient and understanding.
I got a call about your long-term disability. I was shocked and brought to tears by the amount they are going to send me. Obviously, I can’t make it public, but I promise you, I will be a good steward of what you left behind. I will make you proud!
I still plan to fix up the Tahoe. I really should take some before and after pictures. It still sounds awesome when I crank it. I don’t know what’s under the hood, but people will hear me coming. ha ha
We are looking at triple digit temperatures by the end of the week. The Fourth of July looks like a hot day. America will celebrate 250 years. Our founding fathers wouldn’t even recognize what this nation has become. Now is not the time to open a can of worms.
I miss you. There have been ten Bibles donated in your memory. They were donated by people I have never met. GOD IS GOOD!!!
Until I see you again – Keep walking with Jesus!
I love you! MOM ♥
The photo at the top is the Fellowship Hall at Heritage Baptist Church in Fountain Inn. I’ll tell you again, these people loved on us …. Jesus is happy and I’m proud to know a group like this.
What you’re writing will help you as well as those around you. The words gives hope in the middle of heartbreak.
I live in the property that my mom and dad lived on, sometimes I will just touch a tree that dad planted, a flower bed from mom, it helps.
Keep using your talents.
Emotional tiredness is the worse kind It takes time tears anger talking Praying time with friends Getting back to a routine time for memories It takes different time and work for each person eventually , it will get better You always remember Especially on holidays God walks each moment through grief with Believers
We are never alone
